Mrs. Cornelia Bessette
Mrs. Cornelia (Dumas) Bessette, 96, of 988 Parker St. died Thursday at a local nursing home. She was born in Malone, N.Y., daughter of the late Francis and Adele (Cardinal) Dumas, and had lived in Hartford, Conn., for many years and had been a resident of this city for the past 25 years. She leaves a son, Robert Major, with whom she made her home; two brothers, William and Alfred Dumas of Malone, N.Y.; three sisters, Mrs. Lillie Mathias of this city, Mrs. Nettie Beedy of San Gabriel, Calif., and Mrs. Anna Sylvain of East Hartford, Conn.; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at the State St. parlors of the George St. Pierre and Son funeral home Saturday at 8 a.m. with a requiem high mass in St. Joseph’s Church at 9. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Visiting hours are today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m.
