- In Memory of William F. Bassett
December 9, 1936 – December 17, 2012
MSgt. William F. (Bill) Bassette U.S. Air Force, Retired passed away on December 17, 2012 at the age of 66. He was born on December 9, 1946 in Adams, Massachusetts to Alfred and Barbara (LaDame) Bassette. He was a CPL in the U.S. Marine Corp where he served 3 years and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received in Vietnam. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Paul Bassette. Survivors include his loving wife of 45 Years, Mary E. Bassette; children, Rebecca Pearce, her husband James; William M. Bassette; Timothy P. Bassette, his wife Courtney; grandchildren, Brandon Bassette, Marie Pearce, Jamie Pearce, Elizabeth Bassette, Dylan Bassette, William Bassett, Jr., and Joshua Bassette; sisters, Barbara Oleskiewicz, her husband Joseph, and Bette Phelps, her husband Hap; brother, David Bassette. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday December 26, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.

Staff. Sgt. William F. Bassette, grandson of Mrs. Olivine Bassette of 10 Columbia St., Adams, has graduated from the U.S. Air Force recruiter school at Lakeland AFB, Tex.
Sgt. Bassette, who will be an official Air Force recruiter at Albany, N.Y., was selected for the special school and recruiting duty as a volunteer with an outstanding military record.
He was trained in the Air Force job classification system, testing procedures and other related areas required to present Air Force career opportunities to young men and women.
Sgt. Bassette, a 1968 graduate of Carteret High School, New Bern, N.C., was awarded and A.A. degree in 1977 by the Community College of the Air Force. Headquartered at Lackland, the worldwide college awards associate degrees to enlisted personnel for the program combining technical education received in the Air Force with general education provided by civilian institutions.
His wife, Mary, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Snyder of 17 East Road, Adams.
