Patricia Schertz-Slagoski (Picture included)
Patricia M. Schertz-Slagoski, 69, Hatley, died on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 under the care of her family at home. She was born on April 7, 1944 in Eland, the daughter of the late Frank and Alice (Schofield) Bessette. She was united in marriage to Lester Schertz. He preceded her in death on February 26, 2003. Patricia then married Mark Slagoski on September 19, 2008 in Wausau. He survives. She was a Wittenberg High School graduate and was a drum majorette and cheerleader. Patricia was a manager at Medi-Vans, Wausau. She was a volunteer EMT for 20 years in Wabeno, taught EMT certification classes and also ran the Wabeno EMT Fundraiser Breakfast for many years. Patricia was an avid hunter and a member of the NRA and Wabeno Gun Club for many years. She was an excellent cook and artist and enjoyed the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR. Survivors include her husband, Mark Slagoski; son, George Schertz; daughter, Brenda (Thomas) Hoover; grandchildren, Samson Schertz and Jacob Hoover; step-grandchildren, Holly and Thomas Hoover; siblings, Floyd Bessette, Florence (Ken) Klabunde, Barbara Feehrer, Gary (Linda) Bessette, Daniel Bessette, Cynthia (Henry) Palma and Bradley Bessette. Patricia is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Schertz, parents, a son, Arthur F. Schertz, sister, Carmen Pingel, brother, Ronald Bessette and some nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3PM on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at St. Florian's Catholic Church, Hatley. Fr. Roy Witucki will officiate. Interment will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Norrie. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:30PM until the time of Mass at the church.
