Rollande (Bessette) Smith - Lincoln
Rollande Smith was the wife of the late Norman D. Smith. Born on Jun3 13, 1924, in Blackstone, she was the daughter of the late Josephat and Marie Anne (Leroux) Bessette. She was a waitress for many years at Howard Johnsons and Square One in North Smithfield, retiring in the 1980s. She previously had worked at the Embassy Restaurant in Woonsocket. She was active in the town of Blackstone and was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Church. She also was a member of the Blackstone Senior Citizens. She was a Meals on Wheels volunteer for many years and a member of the French Canadian Club of Woonsocket. She enjoyed exercising at Curves. She leaves a son, Charles Smith of Providence; two daughters, Nancy Gouin of Lynchbug, Va., and Judith Amaral of Cumberland; a sister, Pauline Rabideau of Harrisbille; two brothers, Charles Bessette of Blackstone and Maurice Bessette of Rumford; and eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Carol Smith.
