Earl W. Bassett
Earl W. Bassett, 87, of 309 Owen Ave., died yesterday in the Buttonwoods Crest Nursing Home, Warwick. He was the husband of the late Maude (Pinning) Bassett.
Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Frank W. and Maude E. (Kent) Bassett. He had lived in Pawtucket about 60 years.
Mr. Bassett was a lithographer at the Rhode Island Label Works for many years. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and a 60-year member of Fairlawn Post No. 42, American Legion. Mr. Bassett was also a member of Jenks Lodge, F&AM, and was a World War I Army veteran.
He leaves a son, Lt. Col. Earl F. Bassett, (Ret.), of East Greenwich; a sister, Mrs. Maybelle Sifrit of Coloma, Mich.; two brothers, Frank Bassett of Valparaiso, Ind., and Emerson Bassett of Elmhurst, Ill.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m., at the Mortuary of D. W. Bellows and Son, 85 Park Place. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
