Former Resident Killed On The 4th
1967
Word was received here by relatives of the Percy Bassett family of Orange, Calif., of the tragic death of their son, Harold of Bakersfield, Calif., and his son Eldon, about fifteen years old, on the Fourth of July. The plane in which they were flying went down. The cause of the accident is not known.
The parents of Mrs. Harold Bassett, Mr. and Mrs. William Joedeman of Gandy, left immediately by train to be with their daughter.
Also driving out by car were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Joedeman, Mr. Robert Joedemand, Mrs. James Wonch, Mrs. and Mrs. Geo. Schaeffer and Mrs. Roy Burnside, all relatives of Mrs. Harold Bassett.
Funeral services were held in the Church of the Nazarene in Oildale, Calif., and burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
In charge of the service was Rev. M. R. Karody, a former pastor of the Harold Bassetts while there were stationed in Alaska, and assited by Rev. Bert Rhoades.
