Cyrus Bassett Dies at 85
Was Prominent in Sacred Heart Parish
LOWELL – Cyrus R. Bassett, 85, a well known resident of this city,
died last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herman Gendreau, 32
Meadowcroft street. He was born in Lowell, the son of the late Cyrus and
Elizabeth (Riley) Bassett. Surviving him are a son, Cyrus J. Bassett of this
city; three daughters, Mrs. Herman Gendreau, Mrs. Henry Bellefeuille both of
Lowell, and Mrs. Edward J. Welch of Mechanicsville, N.Y., 19 grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
He was one of the oldest attendants of the Sacred Heart parish since
its founding, and also a member of the Holy Name society of the parish.
