Doris E. Lafrance
Doris E. Lafrance, 67, of 19 Main St., died Sunday at Miriam Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of Gaston "Gus" Lafrance.
Born in Warwick, a daughter of the late Oliver and Dora (Brais) Bessette, she had lived in the Riverside section of East Providence for 20 years, previously living in Central Falls.
Mrs. Lafrance was a cloth inspector at Cadillac Textiles Division of Harmony Mills in Pawtucket for many years, retiring ten years ago.
She was a World War II Army WAC veteran, serving as a clerk in the transportation division.
Besides her husband she leaves a son, Joseph E. Lafrance, Chief Warrant Officer, U.S. Navy, stationed in Hawaii; four daughters, Lucille St. Jean of Coventry, Pauline Strach of East Providence, Jeanne Dunham of Jennings, La.; Claire Lee of Middletown; a brother, Norman Bessette of Pawtucket; three sisters, Germaine Campbell of Glocester, Eleanor Cotton of Pawtucket, Norma Rodrigues of Cumberland; and seven grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Theresa Lemire of Central Falls.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Brendan's Church, Turner Ave. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veteran's Cemetery, Exeter.
