Many Friends Mourn Death of F.N. Bassett
HOLLISTON - March 7 - The death of Frederick Newhall Bassett occurred
at his home on Washington street at noon yesterday after a short illness of
influenza and resultant pneumonia.
He was born Sept. 11, 1869, in Franklin, Mass., the son of Charles S.
and Abbie Goddard Bassett. His first trade was that of an expressman in
Natick, Framingham, Holliston and Wellesley and Franklin where he made
innumerable acquaintances and true friends. He was married in 1894 to Jennie
Warren Baker of Holliston and lived for five years in Natick. Since then he
had lived in this town, where he was a well known and respected citize
For six years he had been employed as head shipper at the Archer-
Strans Rubber Co. in Framingham. He is survived by his wife and three
children, Clifford, Hazel and Dorice Bassett, also by three sisters, Mr
Waldo S. Emerson, Miss Hattie E. Bassett and Mrs. Elizabeth MacDouga
Melrose and one brother, Charles Bassett of Franklin. He was a member of the
Masonic lodge, I.O.O.F. of Holliston, holding the office of Vice Grand at the
time of his death. The funeral will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. and will be
private but friends and neighbors are invited to view the remains after 10:30 a.m.
