W.F. Weber, 62 Dies
Funeral Services Today
Well-Known Life-Long Resident Succumbs. Following Extended Illness.
This afternoon funeral services for the late William F. Weber, who
passed away Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the house on South Main
Street, after an extended illness, were conducted 2 o'clock from the home and
2:30 o'clock at the First Lutheran Church. The Rev. J.H. Fredereif
officiating. During the services Miss Janet Bloyer and Leona Schmidt and Mrs.
Vancyn Gump and Mrs. Clarence Switzer sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and
"We Shall Meet Beyond the River". Floral tributes were cared for by Mrs.
Wesley Stroms and Mrs. Ray Sherman.
Attendants of the casket included six nephews of the deceased: Earl
Turner and Ward Weber and Ralph Lee and George Giffon. The remains were laid
to rest in Oakhill Cemetery. Numbers of Cyrus Lodge #188 A.F.A.M of which Mr.
Weber was a member, being in charge of burial rites.
Mr. Weber was born near Mt. Carroll, Feb. 21, 1875, one son of Henry
and Dora Weber. He was united in marriage with May Bassett of St. Paul,
Minnesota, January 17, 1903. They resided in Mt. Carroll until 1913. Th
moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa where they lived until 1924. Then returned to Salem
Township where they resided.
Mr. Weber having been engaged in farming until his health failed. The
deceased was confirmed when a young man in the German Lutheran faith at the
Black Oak church. Later his membership was transferred to the First Lutheran
Church, here.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Margaret at home and Mrs.
Paul Fulrath of Lanark. One son Rayborn of Chicago, three sisters, Mrs. Karla
Stakemiller, Mrs. Elizabeth Gifford, and Mrs. Sophia Schreiner, all of Mt.
Carroll, one brother Fred of Davenport, Iowa and their relatives. He was
preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brother
Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Bassett; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bassett; Mrs. Eva Noble; Mr
Kable (Kate) and Gordon Bannish, all of St. Paul, Minnesota. Mrs. and Mrs.
Fred Weber and Daughter Wanda of Davenport, Iowa and Fred Shultz and son
Harold of Freeport.
