George Elrod Bass
George Elrod Bass, 93, Yukon merchant since 1889, died Wednesday at a Yukon nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Yukon First United Methodist Church with burial in Yukon Cemetery directed by Yanda Funeral Home.Bass was born in Mulberry, Ohio. He came to Yukon where he opened the Bass Mercantile Company on the site where the present store stands.He held charter memberships in the Methodist Church, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, Masons and the Yukon Fire Department. Bass had been a Shriner since 1908, and was a member of the Oklahoma City Men's Dinner Club and the General Society of Mayflower Descendants.Survivors include three daughters Mrs. Eunice Asbill, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mrs. Ruth Luder, Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Wenona Ramsey, Yukon, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
