Ernest Bassett, 57, Fort Hall, died at Bannock Memorial hospital Wednesday after a short illness.
He was born July 9, 1900, at Challis, a son of John Charles and Josephine LeCafe Bassett. He lived in the Challis area for sixteen years, and then moved to Portland, Oregon. He joined the Marine Corps and served for a time before coming to Utah. He lived in Willard for two years prior to his marriage to Lillie Eliza Fallows at the Logan LDS Temple May 1, 1925.
They lived in Howell for five years, then moved to Arimo and lived there until 1942 when they came to Pocatello where they lived for a time. For the past ten years they made their home in the Fort Hall area.
Mr. Bassett was a member of the Fort Hall Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Surviving are his widow, three sons, Carlyle R., Carlos L., William E., Fort Hall; six daughters, Mrs. Marrion (Cloerence) Pannel, Pocatello; Mrs. Alvin (Darlene) Beebe, Fort Hall; Mrs. Ralph (Illa) Romriell, Torrence, California; Mrs. Jerome (Phyllis) Adams, Pocatello; Dale Ann and Evelyn Bassett, Fort Hall; two brothers, Henry Charles Bassett of Ogden; Martin Bassett of Roseville, California; eight sisters, Marie Cochran, May, California, Mrs. Alvin (Florence) Taylor, Ogden; Mrs. Albert (Josie) Smith, Utica, California; Mrs. Robert (Jessie) Draper, Great Falls, Montana; Mrs. Alonzo (Margaret) Andersen, Brigham City, Utah; Mrs. Lorin (May) Christensen, Bear River City; Mrs. Jessie (Elmira) Fallows, Howell, Utah; Mrs. Garth (Hazel) Johnson, Denver; and fourteen grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the Fort Hall Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop E.V. Cutler officiating. Burial will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Manning Funeral Chapel.

Fort Hall, Idaho - Ernest Bassett, 57, Fort Hall, died of pneumonia in a Pocatello hospital after a short illness. Born June 9, 1900, at Challis, to John Charles and Josephine LaCafe Bassett. He married Lily Eliza Fallows at Logan in the Logan Temple Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, May 1, 1925. They resided in Howe and moved to Pocatello in 1942. They moved to Fort Hall in 1952 where they farmed since. Member of Fort Hall LDS Ward. Surviving are the widow; sons, Carlyle William and Charles, Fort Hall; daughters, Mrs. Marion Pannel, Mrs. Jerome Adams; both Pocatello; Mrs. Alvin Bobe, Fort Hall; Mrs. Ralph Romriell, Torrence, California; Dale, Ann and Evelyn Bassett, Fort Hall; two brothers, eight sisters, and 14 grandchildren. Funeral Monday at 2 p.m. in Fort Hall LDS Ward with E.V. Cutler officiating. Burial in Restlawn Memorial Gardens under direction of Manning Funeral Chapel.
