Mrs. Austin P. Bassett
Mrs. Austin P. Bassett, 61, of Waverly street died early Monday morning after a few hours? illness. Mrs. Bassett had been in ill health for some time. She was born in West Brookfield May 2, 1856, the daughter of Eaton Edward and Mary Gilbert. She spent her early life in that town where she received her education. She had lived in Springfield for 26 years. Mrs. Bassett was a member of Memorial church, the church guild and Lucy Webb Hayes Rebeckah lodge. Besides her husband she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Bertha l. Broadhurst, who married Attorney Edward T. Broadhurst Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Broadhurst were informed of Mrs. Bassett?s death while on their wedding trip in New York. Mrs. Bassett also leaves a son, Edward A. Bassett, Spokane, Wash., a twin sister, Mrs. William H. Bruce of West Brookfield, a brother, Louise E. Gilbert of West Brookfield, two aunts, Mrs. Calcin Jennings and Mrs. Lucy Havens of the city, also three grandchildren.
