Willard Otha Gregg, 94, of Grand Ridge died Friday, June 19, 2009, at Jackson Hospital.
A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, Mr. Gregg was a Navy veteran and served two terms with Conservation Corp during the Depression. He retired from Florida State Hospital as a ward supervisor, was a member of the Assembly of God church and loved farming.
He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Gladys Tew; his parents, Robert Charles and Lola Eva Hopkins Gregg; four brothers, Lee Gregg, Albert Gregg, Howell Gregg and Herman Gregg; two sisters, Mary Lou Alford and Callie Moneyham.
Survivors include one son, Donny Gregg and wife Norma of Grand Ridge; three daughters, Dyphner Hurst of Apopka, Junnell Crell of Grand Ridge and Jacqueline Forro and husband Lewis of Savannah, Ga.; one brother, Everett Gregg and wife Louise, and one sister, Eleanor Edenfield, all of Marianna; and three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 22, at the Sneads Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Juno Douglas officiating. Interment will be at Shady Grove Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 21, at Maddox Chapel.
