Dorothy Frances Bass, known to family and friends as Dot or Dottie, was born on October 16, 1934 in Sampson County, North Carolina, to Thelma and Weldon Bass. She passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, seven days before her 84th birthday. In the end, her frail body succumbed but her spirit undaunted traveled home to Jesus.
She was beautiful, kind and spoke her mind. She lived at times in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia as well as North Carolina. She worked as a bookkeeper, secretary, and clerk until her retiring years in Newton Grove. Dottie was giving, enjoyed clean humor, and at times was irascible. She loved animals, arranging flowers, travel and dancing, and thought the jitterbug never went out of style.
Dottie was preceded by her brother Edward Bass and sister Velva Rose Little. She is survived by sisters, Mattie Sumner and Karon Satterfield; a brother Haywood Bass; and more than 12 nieces and nephews who she helped raise.
Life Celebration Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 13, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home, with the Reverend Milton Little officiating. Interment will follow in the Sumner Family Cemetery.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.curmpler-honeycutt.com.
