Civil War Service: Enlisted into Northern Army, Oct. 28,1861 and was organized in Lawrenceburg, IN, Sept.18,1861. This was the 37th Indiana Infantry, which he was assigned to Co."C". Fought in the Atlanta campaign and was badly wounded (gunshot wound, Rt.upper arm) at Dallas, Ga. His records state he was wounded at Altoona Mt. at Pumpkin Vine Creek. The date he was wounded May 27, l864. Was treated in Hospitals and was discharged by reason of permanent disability on May 26,1865. He enlisted along with 3 other brothers, Napoleon B. b:1834, James b:1839, and Wiley b:1841.
