      Dunn - Mr. Milton Bass, 80, died Saturday morning, February 23, 2019, at Rex Hospital. He was born in Sampson County on October 21, 1938, to the late Allen and Virginia Jackson Bass. He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Bass; five brothers, Percy, Ellis, Merless, Bernice and Tilton Bass; and a sister, Hazel B. Tyndall. Milton worked with Dunn Coca-Cola and Bottling Company as a route driver and route supervisor for 17 years. He then went to work for Lundy Packing Company in Clinton as a long-distance truck driver for 20 years. Milton was a retired volunteer firefighter for Spivey's Corner Fire Department for over 20 years. He attended Robert's Grove OFWB Church for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dunn. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church by Dr. Len Keever and Dr. Ricky Warren. Burial will follow in Robert's Grove Church Cemetery. He is survived by two daughters, Regina Johnson of Dunn, and Suzette Smith and husband Donald of Dunn; a son, Mike Sills and wife Annette of Dunn; six grandchildren, Katie McPhail, Parrish and Hayden Smith, Lindsay Moore, Lauren Greene and Sara Katherine Sills; four great-grandchildren, Kinsley Moore, John Luke, Noah and Madelyn Greene. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Skinner and Smith Funeral Home and other times at his home, 161 Plain View Highway, Dunn, North Carolina 28334. Memorials may be made to Robert's Grove OFWB Church, 725 Roberts Grove Road, Dunn, North Carolina 28334 or to the First Baptist Church, 309 W. Broad Street, Dunn, North Carolina 28334.
