Walter S. Bassett, 62, of Kansas, Dies
Walter Marshall Bassett, 62, of rural Kansas, died Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in Memorial hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Girton Church of God with the Rev. Carroll Sarnes of Kansas officiating and burial in Trinity cemetery near Risingsun.
Mr. Bassett was born in Scott township August 8, 1893, the son of Jacob S. and Jane Huff Bassett. He lived all his life in Fostoria and Scott township and was employed by the Dolite company, Gibsonburg.
He was first married in February, 1918, to Ada Edinger, who died in 1954. He married Mrs. Mabel Sword February 16, 1955, in Wayne, Mich.
The wife survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bessie Woodruff, of Fostoria; sons, the Rev. Lowell Bassett, of Castine, Ohio; Ronald Bassett, of Risingsun; and Norman Bassett, of Portage. Six grandchildren also survive.
