Joseph Bassett, who for 25 years was an employee of the Johnstown Water Company, died at his home at West Fairfield, Westmoreland County, after an illness lasting about a year. His death was due to a complication of diseases, including paralysis. The funeral took place this afternoon from the Methodist Episcopal Church of West Fairfield, the services being in charge of the Rev. George Grant, of the Bolivar M.E. Church. Burial was made in the West Fairfield Cemetery. The pallbearers were John Murphy, John McBerney, Leonard Hofecker, Samuel McDowell, George Cummins, and Harry Hamlon.
The deceased was born at Butterton, England, January 16, 1842, and was married there September 9, 1861, to Miss Emma Lomas, who survives him.
