WEST SPRINGFIELD - Harry E. Bassette, 91, of West Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 in Agawam. He was employed for 30 years as a conductor at the New York Central Railroad Company, and retired in 1975. He was born in Agawam on September 13, 1913, a son of the late Henry and Edna (Roberts) Bassette and had lived in Agawam before moving to West Springfield. He was a communicant of St. Louis de Grance Church in West Springfield. He leaves his wife of 63 years, Jeannette A. (Lenville) Basette. His children, Harry A. Bassette, and his wife, Sandra of Holyoke, Gerald C. Bassette and his wife, Theresa of Fruitland Park, FL, and Susan E. Cootware and her husband, Duane of Quechee, VT. His grandchildren, Renee LaMothe-Rafuse, Laurie, Julie, Sheri, Kristi, Ryan, Aaron, and Lisa. His ten great-grandchildren. His sister, Sylvia Lindstrom of East Longmeadow and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Lawrence and Clarence Bassette, and by his sisters, Isabelle Bernatchez and Emeline Waite. Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours. Arrangements are entrusted to the Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main Street in Agawam.
