Bassett will be grieved to hear of his death which occurred at the Fabiola Hospital last night. The deceased was a brother of Councilman J.M. Bassett, and a father to Miss Bassett, who is a teacher in the public school. He was a widower, and leaves a large family, most of whom are residing in the East. Mr. Bassett came to Oakland from Indiana several months ago on account of his poor health. He was a sufferer from chronic rheumatism for years, and was almost a cripple. He had been treated at the hospital for several months but without relief. His death was caused by a complication of diseases. Mr. Bassett was 62 years of age. NYMPHAS B. BASSETT OBITUARY OAKLAND TRIBUNE, 29 Mar 1896 Nymphas B. Bassett, father of Miss Kate N. Bassett and brother of J.M. Bassett, in Oakland, March 28, 1896, a native of Indiana, aged 62 years, 3 months and 12 days. Friends and acquintances are respectfully invited to attend funeral services tomorrow, Sunday, March 29, 1896, at 2:30 o'clock p.m. at the parlors of Albert Brown, 468 Thirteenth Street. Interment at Mountain View Cemetery.
