Armand J. Bassette
Funeral services for Armand James Bassett, 63, of 4127 State Road, a wounded veteran of World War II, were held at 9 Saturday morning with a Solemn High Mass of Requiem in Holy Family Church.
Mr. Bassette died Wednesday afternoon at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Albany, N.Y., where he had been a patient nine weeks.
The Rev. Luelen W. Fortin, pastor, was celebrant of the Mass, which was largely attended, assisted by the Rev. Roger R. Gagnon of Notre Dame Church, Adams, as deacon, and the Rev. Raymond L. Lavoie of Notre Dame, North Adams, as sub-deacon.
The choir chanted the Gregorian Mass for the Dead. Dr. Hector J. Peleitier was organist.
Burial was in the family lot in Southview Cemetery with Fr. Fortin conducting the committal service.
Bearers were Henry Shartrand, Charles Plankey, Victor Camadine, Richard Lefebvre, Charles Sweeney and Leeward Clarmore.
