DEATHS AND FUNERALS, NEWTON O. BASSETT
After an illness of several months, Newton O. Bassett, 37 years of age, died yesterday morning at 10 o’clock at his home 716 Third street. He is survived by his widow; two sons, Joseph and Rembert Bassett; two daughters, Bertha Mae and Wansley Bassett; by two brothers, C.R. and J.M. Bassett, and one sister, Mrs. B.T. Thomas. He is also survived by his father, George W. Bassett, of Macon.
Mr. Bassett had resided in Macon practically all of his life and for a number of years was a member of the Macon fire department. He had many friends who are grieved over his death.
The funeral will be held this morning at 9 o’clock from the late residence, Rev. T.F. Callaway, pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist church, officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Ridge cemetery.
