Thomas M. Bass
Thomas McCoy Bass, 84, of 3447 Blossom Street, died Tuesday in a local nursing home after several months of declining health.
He was born in Laurens, a son of the late George W. and Isabella Nabors Bass, and had spent most of his life in Columbia. He was a retired employe of the City of Columbia.
Mr. Bass was a member of Kilbourne Park Baptist Church, Pacific Lodge 325 AFM, the Knights of Pythias, and the Junior Order of United American Mechanics.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. W.K. (Lois) Dawson, and Mrs. Earle B. (Avelyn) Brazelle, Columbia, and Mrs. R.J. (Edith) Seawell, St. Louis, Missouri, and two sons, Sam Bass, Senoia, Georgia, and Julian H.P. Bass, Charleston.
Friends may call at the residence and Dunbar Funeral home, Gervais Street Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from Kilbourne Park Baptist Church, conducted by the Reverend Leslie W. Edward and the Reverend W.A. Borom. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be William T. Dawson, Robert C. Coker Jr., Dr. Guy A. Calvert Jr., S.N. Bass Jr., Carroll O. Seawell, James Stevens, J.V. Smith and L.V. Bass Jr.
