Death of Mrs. Ralph Bassett
Last Wednesday morning at her home in this village occurred the death
of Mrs. Ralph Bassett aged 70 years. She had been ill for a long time and was
ever a patient sufferer. She was a member of the M.E. church and a good
Christian woman who will be sadly missed in the home and community. Mrs.
Bassett had been secretary of the Burke Water Co. for 25 years, and had lived
in this town for 49 years, with the exception of a few years spent in Oregon.
Mrs. Bassett’s maiden name was Ella Carpenter, of Bangor. She was twice
married. her first husband was Christopher Jameson, a brother of the la
Mrs. P.S. Phillips, and Miss Lizzie Jameson, of Malone. She leaves surviving
besides her husband, one brother in Wisconsin and a nephew, George Kingsley of
Massena. The funeral was held from her late home on Depot St. at 2 P.M. on
Friday.
