Mrs. E.W. Bassett Dead
Ogle County Pioneer Died at Home of Daughter in Rockford
Will be Buried in Polo
Mrs. Ella Wolcott Bassett died at 1 o?clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Miss Mary Bassett, 783 North Second Street.
Mrs. Bassett was born in Roxbury, N.Y. in 1836 and was one of a family of pioneers who settled in Ogle County. Her husband was Peter N. Bassett, a pioneer who died fifteen years ago at Polo. Two years ago Mrs. Bassett came to live with her daughter in Rockford. While in Polo she was a member of the Methodist Church of that place and on coming to Rockford, she identified herself with the Centennial M.E. Church. She is survived by five children: Mary Bassett, at home; A.E. Bassett, Waterloo, Neb.; J.F. Bassett, Cheyenne Wells, Col.; Norton W. Bassett, Topeka, and Edwin Bassett, 328 Kent Street, Rockford.
Funeral services will probably be held Saturday. Burial will be at Polo. Rev. G.R. Vanhorne will officiate.
