  Notes	John and Cyntha relocated to Batavia, Branch County, Michigan. After John and Cynthia married they removed to Andes, New York where 8 out of their 10 children were born. They then started overland to Michigan and located on Government land on Section 33, Batavia Township. They were the first settlers in the township. He was a soldier in the War of 1812, a good, honest and industrious man and with wife were active in M.E. Church. While improving his 160 acres of wild land he found time to teach and conducted one of the first schools in the township.
