Will of Samuel Bassett
The last will and testament of Samuel Bassett of the town of Easton in
the County of Washington State of New York.
I Samuel Bassett considering the uncertainty of this ?? life and being
of sound mind and memory/blessed by Almighty God for the same/do make a
publish this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say-
Item: I give to my son Nathaniel Bassett the use of all my Estate both
real and personal of every discretion during the natural life of my beloved
wife Nancy Bassett subject ??? to the comfortable support and maintenance of
my said wife by my said son Nathaniel.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Lydia Benson the wi
Artemas Benson the sum of fifty Dollars
Item: I give and bequeath to my son Dan Bassett the sum of One Dollar
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Hepsibah Townsend the wife of
Nathaniel Townsend the sum of one dollar
Item: I give and bequeath to my grandchildren Harvey Bassett, Jane
Bassett and Samuel Bassett, children of my late son Samuel Bassett divided the
sum of one dollar share and share alike

Which said several legacies or sums of money I will and order to be paid
to the said several legatees within six months after the decease of my said
wife
And whereas I now am indebted to Dr. Jonathan Dove a note in the sum
of one hundred and twenty four dollars with interest from the da
To my daughter Hepsibah Townsend on two notes both of which when given
amounted to the sum of forty three dollars and interest ??? from the date
And whereas my sons Nathaniel, Ephraim G. and William and my Daughter
Anna have agreed to pay the same in the ??? ??? following to wit: The said
Nathaniel the one half ??? and the said Ephraim G. William and Anna the other
half share and share alike.
I therefore will and desire that the sum which each of my said heirs
shall pay towards the said debts shall by repaid to him or her of the death of
my said wife.
Item: I give and bequeath to my said son Nathaniel Bassett his heirs
and aforesigns the equal undivided half part of all the rest residue and
remainder of my real estate and personal estate goods and chattels of what ???
??? to have and to holds to him the said son Nathaniel his heirs and aforesaid
forever, after that the Debts and legacies aforesaid have been paid and
satisfied, subject ??? to the support and maintenance of my said wife as
aforesaid.
Item I give and bequeath to my said sons Ephraim G. Bassett, William
Bassett and my daughter Anna Bassett their heirs and aforesigns share a
share alike the other equal undivided half part of all my real and personal
estate goods and chattels of what kind soever, after that the Debts and
legacies aforesaid have been paid and satisfied subject never ??? to the ???
and ??? of my said son Nathaniel during the natural life of my said wife as
aforesaid.
And I hereby appoint my said Sons Ephraim G. Bassett and Nathaniel
Bassett my Executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all
former wills by me made.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day of
February A.D. 1820.
