  Notes	Cornelius and Chloe moved to Homer, New York around 1800. Cornelius was a private in Captain Ebenezer Baker's Company, Colonel Freeman's Massachusetts Regiment. In "The Refugees of 1776 from Long Island to Connecticut", Captain Zebuon Stow is hired to transport the families, stock, etc. of a number of the Refugees to Saybrook. "Bassett, Cornelius - From East Hampton to Saybrook; and, later, to Mansfield. On Sept. 18, 1776, his effects were brought over by Captain Zebulon Stow. (C. 144) He signed the Association, in 1775. (H. 28). He served in Col. Smith's Regiment (G.7,31); and probably in Connecticut (G. 83). He was born about 1755 (G.31). His brother William is listed "Bassett, William - From East Hampton. He signed the Association, in 1775. (H.28) He served in Col. Smith's Regiment (G.7,31); and probably in Connecticut. (G.83). It is possible, that the service in Conn., credited to William Barrett, belongs to William Bassett (G.83)" In "Connecticut Men of the Revolution", he is listed "Bassett Cornelius - of Mansfield, 4th Troop, Sheldon's Light Dragoons, 1777 (277)." Cornelius moved to New York State somewhere around 1800.
