Bassett, 42, formerly of Monticello, died at 12:15 p.m. Thursday in the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Marion. He was a patient for several months. Born June 14, 1945, in Biloxi, Miss., he was the son of Donald A. and Ida Mae Whitmore Bassett. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. He lived in Monticello most of his life. He was an Army veteran serving in the military police. Surviving are three children, Paul, Tina and Joe; a brother, Donald Guy (Bassett) Lebanon, and two sisters, Donna Mae Rundell, Broomfield, Colo., and Joan Campbell, Monticello. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home with Rev. William Weckerly officiating. Graveside rites will be at 3p.m. Monday in Tonica, I11., cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home an hour prior to the service.
