Billy Dean Johnson
Billy Dean Johnson, 81, of Monett, Mo., died Dec. 22, 2007, at his home in Monett, Mo.
Billy was born Dec. 20, 1926, in Iola, Kan., the son of the late Ora Ralph and Blanche (Bassett) Johnson. His wife, Joy (Green) Johnson, survives.
Billy attended school in Tillamook. He graduated in 1976 with a degree in criminal justice. He then was a law officer in Tillamook and later served as sheriff of Tillamook County until he retired in 1980. Billy moved to Monett, Mo., in 2005, and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Monett, Mo.
Billy was married to Velma L. Conner of LaHarp, Kan. She survives. To this marriage, two daughters were born, Patricia Collins of Purdy, Mo., and Gloria Brown of Columbus, Kan.; and two sons, Billy D. Johnson Jr. and wife Judy of Independence, Kan., and Alan Johnson and wife Rosemary of Columbus, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Then he married Marian E. Parks. She died July 25, 2003. Billy accepted her children as his own: three daughters, Susan Olmstead and husband Mike of YamHill, Marie Mason and Todd of Siletz, and Patty Stellflug and Chris of Tillamook; one son, Michael Parks and wife Donna of Tillamook; 19 grandchildren; and 49 great-grandchildren.
June 3, 2005, he married Leatrice Joy Green in Monett, Mo., and also took her children as his own: daughter, Leatrice Strother and husband Ronald of Purdy, Mo.; son, Robert E. Green and wife Dee of Disney, Okla.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Billy was preceded in death by two sisters, Ora Densmore and Norma Lee; and one brother, Ralph Jordan. He is also survived by a sister, Mae Johnson of Eugene; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was Dec. 27 at the Church of the Nazarene in Monett, Mo., with the Rev. Chris Carver and the Rev. Noel George officiating. Burial was at Carlton Cemetery in Verona, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice of Aurora, in care of the funeral home.
