The Reverend Bass, 14351 N.W. 34th Terrace, Okeechobee, died Thursday. Born in Kenansville, he was a lifelong resident until moving to Okeechobee in June. He was a member of one of Osceola's pioneer families, the son of Oliver R. Bass and Jane Nettles Bass. He was a retired minister and a retired heavy equipment operator for the Florida Turnpike Authority. He was a member and former pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church, Yeehaw Junction. He was a United States Army veteran. Survivors: wife, Bettie A.; daughters, Cheryl O. Parrott and Claudia L. Arnold, both of Okeechobee; sons, Larry W. and Timothy J., both of Okeechobee; sisters, Tonnie Lea, Kenansville, Ealon Baker, Hamilton, Ohio; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Grissom Funeral Home, Kissimmee.
