Tewkesbury Sudden Death
The death took place on Thursday of Mr. William Bassett, of 2, Saffron-road, Tewkesbury, at the age of 68, as the result of heart attack. He was at work on Wednesday.
Mr. Bassett was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Bassett, of Tewkesbury. He was in the employ of Messrs. Coutts and Howell as a bricklayer for many years, until about 10 years ago, when he went into business as a builder, with a son, on this own account.
He served through the 1914-18 war in the Gloucestershire Regiment.
Mr. Bassett was the oldest member of the old Tewkesbury Town Band, a member of the Sir William Rose Lodge of R.A.O.B., and a member of the Tewkesbury Congregational Church.
He leaves a widow, two sons, and four daughters. There are three brothers, Mr. Tom Bassett, of Tewkesbury, and Messrs. Harry and Alfred Bassett, who are in Australia.

Funeral of Mr. W. Bassett
The funeral took place at Tewkesbury Congregational Church on Monday of Mr. William Bassett, of 2, Saffron-road, Tewksbury, who died on Thursday aged 68.
The service was conducted by the Congregational Minister, the Rev .Noel Smith. The hymns ?Jesus, Lover of my Soul? and ?The King of Love? were sung. Mr. P. Wilkins was at the organ, and the Rev. H.G. Brown read the lesson.
In a tribute, Mr. Smith said that Mr. Bassett was a well-known and popular figure in Tewkesbury. He had won for himself great respect in the town.
In his early days he became associated with that church and Sunday School.

Bassett (son, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Burford (daughter and son-in-law), Mr. R. May (son-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. T. Bassett (brother and sister-in-law), Mr. R. Bassett and Mr. W. Slatter (grandsons), Mrs. T. Bassett Jun. (representing Mr. T. Bassett jun., nephew), Mr. F. Chambers (brother-in-law, Mrs. C. Bassett (sister-in-law), Mr. C. Bassett (nephew), Miss L. Bassett (niece), Mr. R. Wilkins, Miss M. Poulton (respresenting Mrs. E. Poulton, of Cainscross, sister).
Mrs. A. Bassett (widow), Mrs. U. May (daughter), and Mrs. E.H. Bassett (daughter-in-law) were unable to be present.
The interment took place at the Tewkesbury Cemetery.
