  Notes	The Virginian-Pilot, Norfolk, Virginia, Tuesday, 2 November 1993 George W. Bass George W. Bass Sr., 72, of the 5500 block of Briarwood Lane, died Nov. 1, 1993, in a Portsmouth hospital. Mr. Bass was born in Northampton, N.C. He had retired from the U.S. government as an engineering technician. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Western Branch Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Thelma A. Bass; two sons, Bill Bass of Chesapeake and Robert Bass of Portsmouth; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, by the Rev. George F. Mullinax. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund of Western Branch Baptist Church.
