Mrs. Ada Bass Laid To Rest At Grand Canyon After Finale Rites Held Here
Wickenburg residents paid tribute Monday to Mrs. Ada L. Bass, 83-year old mother of William G. Bass, with services conducted at 5 p.m. in the Wickenburg Chapel by Dr. Samuel S. Poling, Presbyterian minister. Mrs. Bass, who had lived in Arizona for 61 years and in Wickenburg for 18 years, died at her home in Phoenix Saturday. On Tuesday the body was removed to Grand Canyon where graveside services were conducted at 2 o'clock by Dr. Poling and burial was beside the grave of her daughter, Edith.
EARLY SETTLER
Mrs. Bass, who was born in Worchester, N. Y., came to Arizona in 1890. She was married to the late W. W. Bass in 1894. The Bass family moved to Wickenburg in 1923, purchased property on the Constellation Road and Highways 60-70 and operated several businesses here. Mr. Bass died in 1933 in Wickenburg. Mrs. Bass continued to live here until 1941 when she moved to Phoenix.
THREE CHILDREN SURVIVE
In addition to the son, W. G. Bass, who operates the La Siesta Motel here, Mrs. Bass is survived by two daughters: Mrs. F. D. Patterson and Mrs. Mable Ott, both of Phoenix, all of whom attended the services here and in Grand Canyon. She also leaves seven grandchildren, including Loren Lauzon and Billy Bass of Wickenburg, and six great-grandchildren.
