John R. Bass
DUNN, Oct. 20. ? John Robert Bass, 57, of Newton Grove, route 2, died at his home last night. He was the son of the late George W. and Mary Jackson Bass and was one of the most prominent citizens of Westbrook township of Sampson county. Funerl will be held at Shady Grove Free Will Baptist church tomorrow afternoon at 3 o?clock. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Bass is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fannie Lee Bass, and the following sons: Hubert Bass, of Newton Grove, route 2; J. Vernon Bass, of Jacksonville, route 1, Oakie B. Bass, of Magnolia; and Pfc. Leo F. Bass, of the army; two brothers, Jonah Bass and Troy B. Bass, of Dunn, route 5; three sisters, Mrs. Wesley Thornton; Mrs. P.T. Barefoot and Mrs. H.T. Smith, of Clinton, route 3; and five grandchildren.
