He was born in Oklahoma. Survivors are his wife, Flora Bass; two sons, Grady "Ray" Bass of Bakersfield and Melvin Bass of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Jean Casas of Bakersfield and Judy Bennett of Santa Paula; three sisters, Opal Hambrick and Dovie McBride, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Nadine Hill of Guthrie, Okla; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
