Bass, for 17 years a resident of Decatur, died at 8:45 p.m. Friday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Robertson, 838 East Prairie avenue, after a short illness of heart trouble. He was 84 years old. Mr. Bass moved to Decatur when he retired from farming 17 years ago. He was born in Keeneville, Ill., Nov. 30, 1854. In 1873 he married Sarah L. Meador in Wayne county. She survives with two daughters, Mrs. Frank Robertson, Decatur, and Mrs. Eugene Hutchinson, East Moline, and a son, Millard Bass of Johnssonville, Ill. A son and a daughter preceded their father in death. He also leaves six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body was taken to the Monson funeral home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
