Bassett Is Held On Charge Of Assault
Cecil Wheeler, Companion, Fined $150 for Attack on Al Kohn Yesterday
For their share in the altercation with Al Kohn yesterday morning Rufus Bassett was bound over to the grand jury under $500 bonds and Cecil Wheeler was fined $150 and costs. The former was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and the latter with disorderly conduct. Bassett will await the action of the grand jury in the county jail, while Wheeler will serve out his fine in the same institution at the rate of $5 per day. The arrest of the two lads resulted yesterday morning after a long chase by three police officers. Bassett and Wheeler had threatened Kohn and Bassett drew a knife, it is alleged.
