William J. Bass
William J. "Bill" Bass, age 69, of Augusta, entered into rest Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at his residence.
Family members include his beloved wife of 45 years Carol A. Bass of Augusta, daughters Michelle Lynn Bass of Hephzibah, Ga., Lisa Marie Lotspeich and husband Paul of Hephzibah, Ga., son William J. Bass, Jr. and wife Cendy of Hephzibah, Ga., six grandchildren Melissa, Ashley, Lacie, Gene, Justin, and Nicole, and niece Barbara Eaton of Ditmer, Mo.
Mr. Bass was born in Perryville, Missouri, the son of the late Robert Roy Bass and Rose E. Swan Bass. He had lived in Augusta for the past 30 years. Mr. Bass was retired as a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army with 23 years of service and having served in Vietnam. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mr. Bass was a member of Eagles Aerie #1197, the VFW #649, and the American Legion #178.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2006 at Poteet Funeral Homes South Chapel with Fr. John J. Lyons officiating. Full Military Honors will be afforded by the Fort Gordon Ceremonial Detail.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service.
