Gene Edward Bass
HEMINGWAY - Gene Edward Bass, 59, passed away Monday Feb. 22, 2010 of an apparent heart attack. Mr. Bass was born in Georgetown County, a son of the late Howard M. and Effie Mae Tyndall Bass. He was a saw tractor operator for Ard Timber Company of Andrews and attended Georgetown County schools. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Lovell Bass of the home; sons, Johnny Ray (Carla) Bass of Hemingway and Marc M. Bass of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Brock Bass, Jenna K. Bass and Jill C. Bass all of Hemingway; brothers, Howard M. (Doris) Bass, Jr. of Georgetown, John (Vickie) Bass, Randy (Michelle) Bass, Steve Bass and Rusty Bass all of Hemingway; sisters, Joann Causey of Conway, Billie M. Pope, Louise (Toot) Avant, Cathy (Mike) Birchmore and Patricia Pope all of Hemingway; a number of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Mr. Bass was pre-deceased by a granddaughter, Jordan C. Bass. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday Feb. 25, 2010 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Hemingway with burial in the Williams Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday Feb. 24, 2010 at the funeral home.
