  Notes	The Monroe Journal, North Carolina, Tuesday, 6 May 1913 Martha L. Chaney Mrs. Martha L. Chaney, wife of Mr. J. E. Chaney, died at her home in east Monroe township Friday morning, aged about 62 years. She was a daughter of the late Mr. John C. Bass and is survived by one brother, Mr. J. B. Bass, and five sisters, besides husband and eight children. Mrs. Chaney was a good christian lady, a member of Meadow Branch Baptist church, and was loved by all who knew her. Her remains were interred Saturday afternoon in the Williams burying ground, Rev. S. N. Watson conducting the ceremony.
