Billy Mack Bass
Mr. Bass, 70, of Charlotte, died Saturday, January 7, 2006 at his residence. He was born March 12, 1935 in Charlotte and was the son of the late Lola Deese and Jessie Ray Bass, Sr. Mr. Bass was a sales representative with Pinkerton Tobbaco Company, retiring in 1980 after 29 years of service, and was then associated with the Town of Matthews for twelve years. He married the former Betty Benton on December 29, 1953. Mr. Bass was a member of Matthews Presbyterian Church; a member of the Matthews Lodge #461 A.F. & A.M.; a member of the Oasis Temple of the Shrine and the Scottish Rite Bodies Charlotte Chapter.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel with the Rev. Roger Burrows officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Monday, January 9, 2006 at the funeral home. Active pallbearers for the service will be members of the Oasis Patrol Unit and honorary pallbearers will be the Oasis Club Car Unit.
Survivors include his daughter, Carol Biggerstaff and husband Lee and son Michael Bass and wife Donna all of Monroe, NC; sister, Eleanore Hayes of Florida and brother Ray Bass of Charlotte; Five Grandchildren and Nine Great Grandchildren. Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Betty Benton Bass on November 4, 2004.
