Bass
Mr. Leslie W. Bass of 3932 Decatur St. died Monday, April 11, 1977. Survived by his wife, Mrs. Eda DeBrito Bass; one daughter, Mrs. Edith B. Topian; one brother, Kenneth Bass, all of Richmond; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren of Fairfax. Remains rest at Joseph W. Bliley Funeral Home?s Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 P.M. Interment Maury. Memorials may be made to the Manchester or Forest View Rescue Squad.

Manchester Girl Too Young To Wed
So Said Lover After Miss Reba haley Leaped from Mayo?s Bridge
It was reported in Manchester this afternoon that Miss Reba Haley, the fifteen year-old girl who leaped from Mayo?s bridge Sunday afternoon, is recovering from the effects of her fall and that the motive for it was that her suitor disappointed her.
Leslie Bass, of Manchester, is the young man the girl accuses of disappointing her. He declares that after she was rescued from the river she sent for him and begged him to marry her. Bass refused, gelling her they were too young.
Mildred Meredith, who was with Miss Haley when she took the fatal plunge, says she remarked prvious to taking the leap:
?Isn?t the water pretty? I believe I will take a plunge.?
Immediately thereafter she disappeared over the side of the bridge. Bass was at the bedside of his former sweetheart for a short time yesterday morning.
