Mr. Bass was born in Philadelphia and lived in Franklinville before moving to Clayton 47 years ago. He worked as a truck driver for 47 years before retiring in 1990. For the last 15 years, he worked for American Transfer Moving and Storage, Pennsauken, and was a member of Teamsters Local 676, Collingswood. He was a World War II Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (nee Drake); two sons, Robert Jr. and Jesse, both of Clayton; five daughters, Dorothy Elliott, Christine Bass and Lorraine Bass, all of Clayton, Claire of Ashville, N.C., and Patricia Inferrera of Vineland; three brothers, Wilbur of Clayton, Ernest of Commercial Township, Cumberland County, and Joseph of Franklinville; and two grandchildren. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at Barclay Funeral Home, Broad and Maple streets, Clayton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church, Carroll Avenue and Main Street, Williamstown. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Williamstown.
