Bass, 94, of Beebe, Arkansas, was born July 30, 1913, to Claude and Minnie Nolen, and she went home on January 28, 2008. She was preceded in death by husband, Vernon E. Bass, Sr.; her mother and father, Claude and Minnie Nolen, all of Beebe; one brother, Harvey Nolen of Jacksonville; six sisters, Aline Norris of Dallas, Texas, Almeda Stracener of Quinlin, Texas, Clara Merritt of North Little Rock, Dora Little of Little Rock, Flora Oaks of Forrest City, and Dorothy Bolcamper of Little Rock. Zelma is survived by two daughters, Lamoine Bass of North Little Rock and Verna Jane Parks of Fayetteville; one son, Vernon E. Bass, Jr. of Beebe; three grandchildren, Rebecca Gaston of Little Rock, Allyson Hunt and Scott Parks; both of Fayetteville; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Kozak of North Little Rock. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2008, at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, with Rev. C. E. VanNess of Rison, Arkansas, officiating.
