Born in Iredell County, N.C., he was a son of the late Tom and Vernie Murcock Bass. Mr. Bass was owner of Bass Upholstery Shop and a Mason. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mattie M. Weaner Bass; a son, Gene Elliotte of Darlington; four sisters, Mrs. Marie Wallace, Mrs. Helen Lipe, Mrs. Hazel Wike and Mrs. Maggie Parker of Statesville, N.C.; and two brothers, Charlie and Grover Bass of Statesville. Services will be 4 p.m. today at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with burial with full Masonic reites in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Mahaffey Funeral Home is in charge.
