Mrs. Ethel Bass, 70, a native of Geneva County, Ala., died yesterday in a Tyler, Texas, hospital after a short illness. Funeral services will be held here tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Hilliard Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jack Williams of Tyler will officiate. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery. Mrs. Bass had lived in Canton, Texas, for the past seven years. She was a member of the Noonday Baptist Church of Noonday, Texas. Surviving are her husband, Samuel B. Bass, Canton; six sons, Virgil and Herman Bass, Canton, Sam W. Bass, Tyler, Billie Joe Bass, Cooper, Texas, Winfred B. Bass, Owentown, Texas, and Wilmer J. Bass, Cleveland, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. E. B Stallings, Hempstead, Texas, and Mrs. Mary Reese, Windsor, Va.; her mother, Mrs. Mary C. McLaney, Hartford; five sisters, Mrs. Valle Bass, Slocomb, Mrs. Ruth Mitchell, Hartford, Mrs. Newell Whitehead, Pensacola, Fla.; Mrs. Abbie White, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Jessie Mae Owens, Winchester, Ky.; and 12 grandchildren.
