  Notes	The Brandon News, Mississippi, March 14, 1918 The News is pained to learn of the death of Mr. Esau Bass, which sad event occurred at the home of his son, J.L. Bass, near Cato, Tuesday of last week. Mr. Bass had been in very feeble health for many years, and his death was not unexpected. He was 85 years of age, and was one of the best men in the county. His remains were laid to rest in the May cemetery, many friends being present to witness the last sad rites.
