Kenneth Paul Bass

FRANKLIN ? Kenneth ?Paul? Bass, Sr., 79, of Delaware Rd. passed peacefully in his home and went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. He was born on August 13, 1944 in Chesapeake, VA to the late Ernest A. and Frances H. Bass. ?Paul? Sr. retired as a conductor for the CSX Railroad after 35 1/2 years of service. He was a member of Hunterdale Baptist Church, Franklin and a Nansemond Indian.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Waverly G. Bass, Ernest A. Bass, Jr. and Jerry Francis Bass.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary J. Bass; his daughter, Lisa Bass Cisco and her husband Dale; his son, Kenneth ?Paul? Bass, Jr. and (Beth Haywood); two step-sons, Gary J. Crawford and wife Liz and Benjamin L. Crawford and wife Ediane; two grandchildren, Sarah Casey Eubanks (Harley) and Emily Rebecca Bass; and a great grandson, Jack Casey Eubanks and great granddaughter Lyla June Eubanks.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by Pastor Bob Hardman, Jr. with a reception to follow at Sturtevant Event Center until 12 noon. Following the reception, Burial will be at 12:30 PM Saturday at Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 ? 7:30 PM. Also, a special thanks to Sentara Hospice.
